CELL PHONE KILLERS

Published by chefrbme2 at 7:02 am under Uncategorized Edit This

Fascinating story this morning on Today concerning cell phone use inside maximum security prisons. Seems inmates use them to commit crimes while incarcerated. Another case of technology moving faster than thinking and planning. The story relates how the cell phone industry doesn’t agree with other technology that would allow prison officials to block the use of cell phones. Apparently the cell phone industry is more concerned with making money than with doing what is right.

Congrats to Today for pointing out a problem and investigating it to the point of finding a potential solution. The cell phone representative seems to think the prison officials should explore other possible methods of handling the issue. Hey, cell phones don’t belong in the hands of prisoners. They should not be allowed and should be jammed, blocked and in any other form stopped from being used by them. Prison officials must be looking at these potential new technological problems before they happen. The cell phone industry would do well to work with prison officials to assist them in correcting the problems.

Just as with guns, there are those, and always will be, who will find ways to circumvent rules. The cell phones are not the issue. It’s how they are used. Just as there are the idiots who drive and text and talk on their cells there will be those who find ways to use them illegally as is this case of prison use abuse. The problem can and must be fixed.
