SOCIAL SECURITY WOES

Published by chefrbme2 at 12:25 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

I’m relatively new to this way of living. I retired early for a number of reasons. One is in calculating my monthly income by waiting more years I find it to be insignificant, regardless of what many experts may say. I haven’t earned a lot over the course of many years of laboring. As I understand social security regulations, if I work any time until I reach full retirement age I will be liable for 50% of my earnings being withheld by social security. Either way it doesn’t seem very fair to know you’ve worked all these years and yet still cannot receive enough for a decent living. The amount I draw is less than what a person would receive working full time on minimum wage.

I’m not looking for sympathy here. Just raising the issue of whether or not we are being fair with our social security system. It won’t be long before I shall be forced to return to the work force in order to survive. Monthly expenses continue to rise yet the amount I receive continues to stagnate. I wonder how others cope with these issues. One can only tighten the old belt so much. My lifestyle has not changed much. When I was working all I did was work. Now that I am retired all I am is retired as I cannot afford to do otherwise.

So all you retirees out there with tips and information on how to survive the social security income level, let’s hear from you.
