TAX FREE WEEKEND?

Published by chefrbme2 at 12:33 pm under Uncategorized Edit This

Local news tells me this morning “the Governor today announced a Tax Free Weekend saving consumers on clothing, school supplies and computers.” Well get me all excited then. I am not a student nor have anyone in my family that is. I don’t need any clothes. Being retired I find I have more clothing than I need for some years to come. I don’t need a computer, I have one. I am sure there are other miscellaneous items that may be purchased tax free during this period. I have witnessed several years of this now and have found them to be no advantage to me. I am thrilled for those that are able to use them to their advantage.

What I would like is a cold beer, a smoke and a good conversation with friends under a shade tree in my yard. I can’t do that though because the taxes on cigarettes and beer have been raised so high I cannot afford any and the good conversation has turned ugly toward our state legislators and governor who are responsible for this.

If you are living outside North Carolina and anticipating coming here to live, think twice. Perhaps even more than twice. The taxes in this state will strangle you. The politicians are the largest bunch of BS shooters in the country. I know this happens in all states but I don’t live in but one and this one is killing me. North Carolina is a beautiful state that is being turned ugly with the recent and current batch of legislators and governors we have had.

Since I can’t afford a cold beer, smoke and good conversation, perhaps The President might invite me to the picnic table at The White House for the same. Of course I would need a bailout or stimulus funds in order to afford a trip there and return home to North Carolina to pay more taxes.
