ALLEGED / SUSPECTED
The shootings at Fort Hood, Texas, Army Base yesterday as a sad and shameful incident. My heart is heavy for those involved, especially the families who lost a loved one.
As I, and millions worldwide, watch news coverage of the unfolding details of what, why, who of this sad situation I cannot help but wonder why the media insists upon using the terms alleged and suspected shooter. Yes, I am aware of our basic belief that everyone is innocent until proven guilty, but what more proof is needed.
There are numerous incidents where there may be reasonable doubt as to who did something. This is not one of those. No matter who may intervene, such as the nations top defense attorney(s) or what suppositions may be dreamed up there does not seem to be any reason to call this coward a suspect or alleged shooter.
Those of us having served our country in uniform know there are thousands upon thousands of dedicated individuals who love this country and would die for it. We also know there are those in uniform there only for welfare and a roof over their heads. We know there are plenty of nut cases in uniform. We know there are those that are bitter about what direction our country is taking in military actions and politically.
The President is cautioning us to wait until we have all the facts in hand. What more do you need Mr. President to show you this was a sick, cowardly act? Perhaps you will want to put this guy’s image on a US Postage Stamp?
